Greenhouse gas emissions from global shipping, 2013 to 2015

The International Maritime Organization (IMO), the body which regulates international shipping, is currently developing a GHG strategy in line with the 2o scenario for the shipping sector.  However, the most recent inventory, completed in 2014, only covers years 2007-2012. In this landmark study, we present an inventory of climate and air pollutants, fuel consumption, and general trends in the global shipping fleet from 2013-2015.  We hope these up to date numbers will provide policy makers the necessary information to develop a successful GHG strategy.
